Peterson Development has been in business for more than half a century since its founding in Salt Lake City by Leon Peterson in 1967. Since that time, the company has become known as a leader in commercial real estate construction, infrastructure development, land acquisition and sales, and entitlement. Peterson Development has constructed medical clinics and professional offices, built up retail projects to help improve quality of life, and helped create neighborhoods for families to grow in communities all over the Intermountain West.
Hard work, honesty and integrity are values Leon instilled in the company when he founded it, and these same values continue to guide the business today. A second generation is now leading Peterson Development forward with pride and confidence, while still retaining those timeless values espoused and put into practice by Leon Peterson.
Peterson Homes is a subsidiary of Peterson Development and has been building elegant, versatile, and customized homes in various communities throughout the Salt Lake Valley since 1999.

Commercial Development
Peterson Development has been developing commercial real estate since the 1960’s. The Company has deep experience in retail centers, from raw ground to tenant-occupiable space, and has developed more than 1.4mm SF of retail space. Over the years, Peterson has done business with countless national retailers, including Costco, Smith’s, Walmart, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, and Costa Vida, to name a few. In addition to retail, Peterson also has expertise in small office, and prides itself on its ability to provide turn-key solutions to growing or relocating tenants through build-to-suit office projects. The Peterson team includes in-house commercial brokerage services, and the Company holds strong relationships with many local and national tenants.
Land Development
Peterson Development has been planning and entitling land in communities throughout the intermountain west for several decades. Peterson has partnered with local municipalities to plan and lead multiple large-scale master planned communities, with more than 6,200 residential homes entitled. The Company has strong relationships with local jurisdictions, and a reputation for being good to work with. The Peterson team includes in-house land use planning capabilities, allowing the Company to efficiently identify the best use of land for each parcel it touches. Peterson Development also has a proven track record in successful partnerships with other developers and builders to intelligently grow communities.
Residential Development
The Peterson Companies are directly involved in residential real estate through Peterson Homes. Peterson Homes has more than 20 years of experience building homes for Utah’s residents, and has constructed more than 1,200 homes since its founding. Peterson Homes builds single family homes, multifamily homes, as well as senior-living communities.
